Nominations for the 2023 DAISY Award have now closed. Our celebration of this year’s recipient will happen in May.
We do, however, accept nominations year-round. Feel free to submit now for the 2024 award.
Mitchell County Regional Health Center is proud to honor its outstanding nurses with the DAISY Award — an international program that celebrates skilled, compassionate nurses who provide care to patients and families every day.
The DAISY (Diseases Attacking the Immune SYstem) Award was established in memory of J. Patrick Barnes, who died at 33 of an autoimmune disease. The Barnes family was awestruck by the clinical skills and compassion of the nurses who cared for Patrick, so they created this award to say thank-you to nurses everywhere.
NOMINATE A NURSE FOR THE DAISY AWARD
Anyone can nominate a nurse — patients, family members, visitors, physicians, staff members and volunteers — by sharing a story of the outstanding care the nurse provided.
The DAISY Award committee selects one nurse who exemplifies the following characteristics:
- Established a special connection with a patient/family
- Has significantly made a difference in the life of a patient
- Shows empathy in all situations
- Is an outstanding role model for the nursing profession
- Generates enthusiasm and energy towards meeting the challenges of nursing
- Consistently exhibits excellent interpersonal skills
- Exemplifies the essence of professional nursing in all activities
The DAISY Award recipient will be recognized at a public ceremony and will receive a DAISY Award certificate, a DAISY Award lapel pin and a hand-carved stone sculpture titled A Healer’s Touch.
