Mitchell County Regional Health Center Receives Three Performance Leadership Awards

As part of the 2022 National Rural Health Day celebration, Mitchell County Regional Health Center has been recognized with Performance Leadership Awards in Quality, Outcomes, and Patient Perspective. The awards, from the Chartis Center for Rural Health, honor top quartile (75th percentile and above) performance among rural hospitals.

The Performance Leadership Awards use the results of the Hospital Strength INDEX®, the industry’s most comprehensive and objective assessment of rural hospital performance. INDEX data is trusted by rural hospitals, health systems, hospital associations and state offices across the country to measure and monitor performance across a variety of areas impacting hospital operations and finance.

“These recognitions reflect the dedication of our incredible staff,” said Shelly Russell, Mitchell County Regional Health Center CEO. “Our team ensures excellent patient care is the primary focus of our day-to-day operations. It’s gratifying to be recognized for our commitment to improve the health of our community,” she said.

National Rural Health Day is celebrated annually on the third Thursday in November.

“Although the last two years have placed unprecedented pressure on the rural health safety net, the dedication to serving the community that we’re so accustomed to seeing from rural hospitals across the country hasn’t wavered,” said Michael Topchik, National Leader, Chartis Center for Rural Health.

National Rural Health Day showcases the efforts of rural healthcare providers, state offices of rural health, and other rural stakeholders to address the unique health care challenges rural communities face and recognize the innovation, quality of care, and dedication rural health care professionals and volunteers provide.
